Galveston: Self-defense by knife

Post by seamusTX »

In Galveston Monday (I think*), around 7:30 p.m., some people who were on the Seawall around 9th Street observed a man choking a woman in a parked vehicle. One of the so-called bystanders confronted the man, who then attacked him. The assault victim stabbed the attacker.

Police arrested the suspect about half a mile away and took him to the UTMB emergency room. He is charged with attempting to escape custody, as well as family violence.

The defender, a 21-year-old man, was not injured and was not charged with an offense.

*The story says Wednesday, but that has to be a misprint, since it was posted Wednesday shortly after midnight. Monday evening was busy, because it's spring break. Tuesday evening the weather wasn't so pleasant.
