5-Shot Leather "Uncle Lou" Holster

Post by hi-power »

Here's my new carry rig from John Ralston at 5-Shot Leather in Vancouver Washington.

The belt is at least 3/16" thick and took a little getting used to. I've never had a gun belt before and so decided just to wear the belt the first day without the holster or mag pouch. It loosened up enough to allow me to wear them the next day, though.

It was fairly comfortable wearing the Hi-Power all day long in about the 2:00 to 2:30 position. At the end of the day though, the end of the holster started to dig in a little in front of my hip joint due to being seated doing my programming at the pc. I just had to stand up and hike up my pants a little so it wouldn't hit there all the time. I'll try the 5:00 to 5:30 position tomorrow and see if there's any problems with that.

All in all, I'm happy with the performance and look of the new rig and highly recommend it.

I've also ordered a Tucker "The Answer", so I can swap them out when I want to.

He's pretty backed up, (like all the rest of the gunleather makers).

I ordered it on January 19th. He emailed me on February 24th saying he would be starting on it shortly. On March 16th he said he was hoping to finish that weekend. (I guess it took a little longer because I finally got it in the mail April 2nd). So about 10-11 weeks.

When I ordered it though, he told me his timeframe would be 12 weeks, so he beat that.

That's a beautiful rig, and I would be interested in one, myself, but his website says he is not currently accepting new orders until his backlog has been filled. He estimates this will be near the end of May.
