Keep It Clean, Keep It Classy
Just a reminder to us all to be above reproach. Anti's are going to peruse this forum, Facebook, etc., looking for anything that makes gun owners look foolish. We can all celebrate this victory, but don't be an idiot, don't stoop to their level, etc. Remember what President Obama said: this is just round one.
Re: Keep It Clean, Keep It Classy
I saw a story yesterday where another forum had found several people who had joined and posted provocative threads for the purpose of drawing out the more inflamed answers. Turned out they were hirelings of Bloomberg who were taking the responses that cast gun owners in the worst light and posting them on social media. This is happening and lets not play into their hands. New members who post such things should set off alarm bells and we need to answer such posts with restraint.

We should maybe take 30 minutes to celebrate, then get back to work. The anti's on the left are not going to give up. I am sure many of them spent last night scheming and planning to increase the pressure any way they can.
We can't turn our backs on them now. We can't even appear to be content as this would drive them harder to show us just how much smarter and politically correct they are. We should plan for increased pressure on as many fronts as they have any influence on.
Guard the walls, secure the gate.

If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

The thing is that they don't have to "cause" anything. Its inevitable that, given gun-free-zones (defense free zones) to "work" in, some bad guy will hurt and/or kill more innocent folks somewhere down the road. And the Democrat Socialist Party sit with gun-control legislation already written, like vultures circling a dying animal, waiting to pounce, all the while cheered on by their propaganda wing in the mass media. Politicians have folks with guns protecting them, but children in schools do not...and the Democrats (and other antis) refuse to answer why they are against protecting the children. I believe that SOME of them LIKE having folks, any folks, as sitting ducks. Sorry if I'm cynical, but what I see and hear makes me that way.suthdj wrote:How long until the next mass shooting to fuel the agenda and yes I might need a tin foil hat.

I don't think they are against protecting children, I think they are just wrong and misinformed. The overwhelming majority of Americans want to reduce gun violence - its just that some are misled by politics. It would be good for us to be careful how we word things - and I'm not trying to call anyone out. I made a post yesterday without thinking, and it was apparently deleted because it wasn't 100% accurate. I'm glad one of our moderators had the sense to pull it. Our words will be read, taken out of context, and used against us. We have to be disciplined enough to not give them anything worth using.K.Mooneyham wrote:The thing is that they don't have to "cause" anything. Last night, a friend (or I assume he is still a friend) asked me my views on the gun-control bills. I was called a "proud, belligerent criminal, who simply didn't want to inconvenience himself" with background checks, because I questioned the validity of the 90% of Americans want the Toomey-Manchin bill comment by President Obama. My response was to ask things like, "How does that make me a criminal if I disagree with you..." and "...are the 79.7% of police [polled in the policeone.com poll] also 'proud, belligerent criminals' because they agree with my argument...", etc. I did not name call back at this gentleman. You would be surprised how other people in the room - who originally supported his "90% comment" began to see him for his anger instead of his political stance.

Re: Keep It Clean, Keep It Classy
I've been calmly & rationally commenting on the calls for senate retribution today on Facebook. It's kinda nice being on this side of things for once. I ignore the obvious pot shots & stand above the name calling while giving well thought out responses to some pretty emotional posts. I'll continue to do so until we can muster enough steam to go on the offensive. We need to start talking in terms of expanding our 2nd Amendment rights when the recent dust up settles down a bit.

Re: Keep It Clean, Keep It Classy
I was not talking about the average Joe in the street in my comment. I was talking about some of the Democrat Party leaders. I'm sure you can figure out which ones I alluded to without me putting any names up. I don't believe it to be a very large group of folks, either...just a group with a lot of pull. I know that our words will be looked at with scrutiny, but its not like they don't do that anyway. I may not be as hard-core as some are, but I can understand why they are, as I am quite tired of having to watch what I say while the antis get free run in the press/mass media on making things up and spewing their stories that are patently false. I'm glad you are able to do things the way you do, and I hope you continue to have a positive effect.Rrash wrote:I don't think they are against protecting children, I think they are just wrong and misinformed. Re: Keep It Clean, Keep It Classy
many are indeed misinformed, but some are truly evil.
if we get what we want they go about their life in total freedom.
some of those people , if they got everything they want...
We might see them round up their openents for imprisonment or worse.
look how socialists in the past have handled their political oposition.
I think i can speak for all gun owners when i say: We just want to be left alone.
