Something to think about-the next time you fly.

"Obama To Return 5 Percent Of His Salary In Solidarity With Furloughed Federal Workers"

That is mighty big of him. With the amount of money he makes, he won’t even feel it, but furloughed Federal Workers will take what amounts to a 10% pay cut. Also I have information from a very reliable source that the safety of the flying public could be placed in jeopardy because of politics.

I wonder how many good people that work for the border patrol and other services are now looking for another job. The oil field in South Texas has picked up and even without the cuts,- with regular pay,- a Border Patrol agent can make a lot more money driving trucks and be safer doing it.

All FAA ground to air communications and radar sites have redundancy. That is, all sites used for communications between Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots have a main and standby transmitter and a main and standby receiver for each frequency. If a “main” transmitter or receiver fails, the Controller can just select “standby” and he/she can talk to and hear the pilot on completely different radios. The same holds true for the radar sites the Controllers use to track aircraft and prevent collisions.

As I said I have information from a very reliable source that if a “standby” transmitter or receiver fails the technicians have been instructed not to fix it. That also goes for “standby” radar equipment.

Think about this the next time you fly. Enjoy your trip.

Want to know what’s up there? Weekdays are a lot busier.

Maybe I failed to make my point clear. This is part of the results of Obama , Congress and the “sequester”.
In the article I cited, third paragraph, first sentence “The president is demonstrating that he will be paying a price, too,” makes me want to upchuck.

Where is the “upchuck smiley”?
God Bless America, and please hurry.

Those people will do their jobs the best they can. Obama has blamed every bad thing that's happened on the sequester except the Boston Marathon bombing.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

Interesting, I just got back from Vegas and it seams like every ATC sector we checked in with was working multiple frequencys today and very much serious busness as well as close to task saturated. We had to make multiple calls on each frequncy when checking in before getting a responce because the controller was busy cordinating on the land line. It seems like Obama wants to hurt the areas the Republicans are sensitive to so as to force us to give in to his wants.
I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.
