Sig 2022 .40 S&W

Post by Howdy R »

First post! Noob alert.

Anyone know where a guy can rent a Sig 2022 in .40 S&W? OR does someone own one they would be willing to let me try in the Katy/Houston/Richmond area? I'm a teacher who will hopefully be able to carry someday at work...

Thanks.

No not a 2022. I have seen a few sigs for rent at spring guns and ammo but not a 2022. Others will probably chime in soon. Don't hold your breath either hoping for teacher's carrying in any major district anytime soon.maybe out in the country but large districts with a dedicated police force isn't going to happen Imo.

Also don't know if this helps but my father in law has a 229 in 40 and loves it. Different all metal gun with single double. I think the 2022 is double only?

No breath holding here! Some potentially helpful legislation almost passed the Tx Senate, but was recalled. Some kind of goofy amendment tacked on to it. This IS redneckville, though...holding out a little hope! :txflag:

I have also shot a 229 and loved it. The price is a barrier for me.

The 2022 can be converted to DAO so I hear, but comes SA/DA.

I have a Sig Pro SP2022 in 9mm that I primarily use as a training loner. It has the smoothest DA first shot of any stock DA/SA pistol I have ever fired. The SA is crisp and predictable. I know it's not a 40, I don't think there would be any difference in handling. The 40 has a bit more recoil than the 9, nothing you can't overcome through training.

MY EDC is a 2022 in 9mm. It is Single/Double. I absolutely love it! Good luck finding one to rent - haven't seen them locally DFW to rent, but ranges in your area might have a different selection.

Starting to sound like a lot of us have 2022s, but all in 9mm.

Same here - it's my EDC, and I LOVE shooting it. It's DA/SA, and I carry it with a 17-round mag (using a +2 extension) - needless to say I'm happy with the tradeoff of caliber vs. ammo count that I can carry.

I'm in west Houston, so if you want to join me at the range, I'll let you shoot mine to your heart's content, just to get a feel for it. Just let me know if and when.

Thanks y'all!

I wish all of America would experience this forum. There are a lot of good people here who love their guns. Imagine that!

Yes, 9mm is popular...I may take you up on that Vol Texan. PM me when and where would be convenient for you. More of a fan of .40, but I've got nothing against 9's, and it might give me a good idea.

I've got a 2022 in .40 but am in Killeen. I like the gun, my GF LOVES the gun. It's her favorite at the range.

I've got a 2022 in both 9mm and .40 S&W. The felt recoil between the two is negligible, enough so that if you shoot Vol Texan's 9mm and like it I wouldn't hesitate buying it in .40 if that's what you want. The only thing I'll caution you about is that the 12-round mags are not easy to come by right now (relative to the 9mm version), however sign up for notifications at Midway, Top Gun Supply, or check Greg Cote LLC regularly and you should be able to get some in addition to the one it comes with. Its a great gun at a great price, possibly one of the most overlooked polymer framed guns on the market.

CDNN has 357/40 10 round SigPro 2022 mags in stock for $29.95 each. I know they aren't the 12 round "High Capacity" mags. In a gunfight I would rather have a 10 round reload than no reload. :thumbs2:
