BURKESVILLE, Ky. — Authorities in southern Kentucky say a 2-year-old girl has been accidentally shot and killed by her 5-year-old brother, who was playing with a .22-caliber rifle he received as a gift.
White told the newspaper that the boy received the rifle made for youths last year and is used to shooting it. He said the gun was kept in a corner and the family didn't realize a shell was left inside it.
Stupid parents like these make it difficult for the rest of us. :banghead: No problem with the gift of a rifle, but, leave it in a corner???  :eek6
Armed not dangerous but potentially lethal.
CHL Application mailed 10/2/12
Plastic in hand 11/16/12

:iagree:

This is just a tragic example of a lack of adherence to firearms safety rules. Can't hold a 5-year old at fault, its completely on the parents.

On the other hand, its the HuffPo. They do their best to find the stories that support their arguments about firearms, and yet fail to point out how many millions of firearms will NOT be (mis)used injure or kill anyone today, either illegally or by accident.

I'm willing to bet that far more people are killed by firearms violence nationwide in places like Chicago, than are killed by accidental shootings such as this where parents were negligent with a firearm....

Just as tragic, lots of kids fall victims to swimming pools and traffic accidents.....

Which is why swimming pools, bathtubs, ponds, and cars need to be banned.
