The only regret that I have about leaving SE La is I didn't do it 20 years earlier.

Thought this comment on the link was interesting:
"Typical democrats! Funny you can get 200,000 Republicans together without any problems but get more than 3 democrats together and there's going to be a shooting."

Probably gang-related. Saw a dude they didn't like because he's on somebody's turf where he shouldn't be and hey, no time better than the present to pull out an illegally carried pistol and wing off a few shots at the guy, right? That'll teach him.

Odd. In my head i am trying to craft this into an anti-gun narrative so i know what to expect. This event doesn't carry the tragic weight of other shootings, and will probably be forgotten by the media by Monday.

Yep. Anywhere else this is big time news. But, it's just New Orleans. Everyone is waiting for Mother Nature to flush the toilet again.

Kinda of interesting, 70,000 -80,000 people for four days in Houston with more guns than you could count, probably no crime period anywhere near the convention center of any kind. Mother's Day parade in NOLA and 19 are shot.

Make that over 86,000 in Houston and, yep, the area around the convention center was probably one of the safest places in the country for a few days.

While on Frenchmen, it's not the stretch locals go to in the Marigny for music and other cultural interests. It's a few blocks away, in a neighborhood that turns really bad, really quickly. It's ashamed something like this happened for all the folks involved and wish them a full and speedy recovery. Fortunately for the city, these incidents rarely happen in high tourist traffic areas, but it is still a huge black eye for New Orleans in the national press.
