Michigan?

Post by cb1000rider »

http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; lists michigan in yellow and as I read it, indicates that the CHL permit holder must be a resident of Michigan in order for them to honor the license:

Reference: http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/michigan.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Michigan Does Not Honor Non Resident Permits Licenses. You must be a resident of the state they
honor for your permit to be valid in Michigan.
The Texas Department of Public safety lists reciprocity with Michigan and further details it here:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/chl/le ... nrecip.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I believe the DPS is correct per further reading on Michigan legislative statutes, but handgunlaw.us seems to be the standard reference around here...

2nd opinion?

What they are saying is that you must be a resident of the state for which you hold a license. If you have a nonresident Florida license it is no good in Michigan.

On our last road trip to Grand Rapids, we did just that. We went from Houston up through Texarkana, up to Memphis, over to Nashville, and up through Louisville and Indy. Added some miles, but stayed in interesting country, and had a great family outing in the process. It was worth it to avoid Illinois on pure principle.
