Any chance of a national CHL license
I hear people talking about it - but never any action - I doubt it will ever happen - right

Thank God, no.
I don't want people like Feinstein or Schumer having a say in what the licensing standards should be for all the states. I am satisfied with the current system instead of a lowest-common-denominator national system administered by the Obama administration.

The current system of state licensing with national reciprocity is what you are looking for. Just like a driver license. A national license is too much federal control, too prone to politics.
Re: Any chance of a national CHL license
+1. I don't want ANY further extension of the intrusion of the federal government into my life. All I would wish for from the federal government would be a declaration by the Supreme Court that concealed carry is already inherent in the Constitution and no other licenses or approvals are necessary. But not holding my breath on that one, so I'll stay with the states being in control.
Fed gov't responsibilities in my book:
1. National defense
2. One currency and prevent inter-state tarrifs, etc.
3. Arrange for highways to line up at state boundaries.
Everything else is pretty much an over-reach.

It already exists. It's the second article in the Bill of Rights. Nothing more is needed from the feds.banshee wrote:I hear people talking about it - but never any action - I doubt it will ever happen - right
Re: Any chance of a national CHL license
Yes, we do not want the antis to decide when/why we might carry. The only advantage potentially to be gained would be clarification of federal property carry. Though is would be a cold day in a warm place before it would be used for the post offilce.

I was about to say that we shouldn't need one due to the Bill of Rights. Course, that's not reality..iAmSam wrote: It already exists. It's the second article in the Bill of Rights. Nothing more is needed from the feds.
To have one, we'd need a minimum set of standards that are common to all states. Too many differences in red/blue. Won't happen.
