California AG to Feds - No Dangerous Guns for You

Post by JJVP »

Sacramento, CA --(Ammoland.com)- Apparently, Attorney General (AG) Kamala Harris has changed California State Department of Justice policy and is now limiting federal law enforcement agents’ ability to acquire handguns.
The AG says the feds can only buy firearms listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale (like the rest of us).

Feds can buy whatever they want from any state, if CA is making a fit, MA for example would provide any order for the Feds. :rules:

The Approved Handgun Roster is a compilation of guns that can be sold at retail to ordinary citizens. Those guns have the required features and have been tested to meet CA requirements. LEOs can buy guns not on the list. Once a LEO buys a non-approved firearm, it can be sold to anyone. Only approved firearms can be listed on CCW permits, and only 3 can be listed at a time.

All she appears to be doing is restricting sale of non-approved guns to state LEO's, if that. Frankly I wish the manufacturers would ban sales to CA, but that is a different discussion.

Barrett and STI are two companies that I know of who won't do business in California. In the grand scheme of things they will make a very small impact. Now if Colt, S&W, Glock, Sig, Ruger, Baretta, Remington and the rest of the heavy hitters in the firearms industry would get on board. :thumbs2:

I just checked......even my "low capacity" XDS is not legal in California.

Yup...your case should have a sticker "Not Legal in California" and give the reason below it is not inclusive on the roster.

It is impossible for any person to legally purchase and transfer a handgun out of state. The transfer must always go through the person's home state FFL. If the gun is off the list, then you are correct that the person cannot possess the gun.

Now that JALLEN has returned home, CA can go ahead and fall off into the ocean. Well, maybe after the new IPhone comes out.

Which won't be growing larger any time soon as I understand it. The microstamping requirement to add a gun to the roster is now in effect.

I very recently was in the process for a job with an aerospace company in LA and had been researching the latest in gun laws there. To say it is horrifying is an understatement. The job offer did not materialize so at least I get to hold onto some freedom.

So, how much freedom would you have been willing to trade for that job?

That's not an easy question to answer. We'd need to have a few beers to really hash it out.
