A woman, Angela Champagne-From, was assaulted in a Minneapolis parking garage. A man put a knife to her neck and told her to get in a car with him. She had no way of knowing he was a serial sexual predator. She chose to fight him. She used techniques she learned in a self defense class to defend herself and got stabbed in the process. Her attacker was later caught and she has since made it her mission to encourage more women to fight back.

that was a great read and TFS! Glad it turned out okay for her and alot of us may not have been so lucky. It made me think about a couple of key points which i'm going to adress asap. first the medical part of it, i know it's not practical to carry around a full first aid kit but they sell camping kits that are decently priced and are very small but contain quite a bit. it wouldn't be much to have one in the truck or a tiny one on your person (ecspecially the ladies who carry purses) it could buy some time while the "dispatchers" try and locate and get to you. I have been planning on taking some formal self defense although through my younger years I was no stranger to the fist for sure. we loved it back then (but that was back then) and I know a knife or a gun is a whole nother ballgame. i'm sure some de-escalating or hand to weapon defensive training would be helpful. I would admit that I am in the aware and marginally prepared catagory but now that I'm married and one day the family will start growing is enough to graduate to the aware and prepared club.

Doesn't matter what she knew or didn't know about the attacker.....the only other alternative was to get in the car.....you never never never get in the car.
