Indeed. I'm fascinated by the fluid dynamics (I guess that's the correct term) of what happens to the spent gasses as they exit. There's a guy who does youtube videos—sometimes with guns—who goes by the handle of "SmarterEveryDay" who has a youtube video of an AK47 being fired under water. It's cool, because it really shows some interesting effects. Air is not nearly as dense as water, but I would suspect that some of the effects are the same. The water just exaggerates them.
