reported suicide by gun at a local high school

The media in it's rush to be the first put out it was a "cutting" aka stabbing involving two students, but it has now been reported as a suicide by gunshot inside a Austin High School. Very tragic for all involved, but I am very thankful it wasn't an active shooter then suicide.

How tragic. My sympathies go out to the family.

Sad. We are currently undergoing more training on bullying and suicide prevention. Not everyone's favorite training but if it saves a life...

This can really have an impact on students. In the little 1A school I went to in central Texas when i was in high school we had a kid on my football team end his own life because of a girlfriend. A few weeks later another kid used his parents shotgun in the parking lot. he was basically made fun of on a constant basis. Those were very tough times on me. Really heavy dark days. You hope that kids are told how much they are loved and wanted by parents. Whenever i hear of these things, i think of the deep despair the person felt and loneliness. There is Hope.
