I remember exactly where I was and who I was with when I heard that fateful news. It's hard to believe that that was a half-century ago, eh?

My parents kept my brother and I home from school on the day of the funeral to watch it on TV...

I may be old, but I know what day it is.

The assassination of John F. Kennedy shocked and stunned the nation. As a 13 year old boy, I couldn't comprehend that this could happen. Assassinations of American presidents like William McKinley and Abraham Lincoln were things that you read about in history books, not something that you watched on television.

I was in Mrs. Blundell's eighth grade history class at Cedar Bayou Jr. Hi. In Baytown, Texas. She was called out of the room and came back in crying.

Where were you on that date?

6th. grade history class Harrold Independent School District. The Presidents death was announced over the speaker system and all students were sent home from school. So many years now and we still don't know if Oswald was the only one involved or who ordered the assassination.

I was in 1st grade at Casa View Elementary in east Dallas. We knew something was up because another teacher came into our classroom and whispered in Ms. Gillian's ear. Ms. Gillian started crying and told us to continue our writing while she stepped into the hallway. Lots of fearful, confused looks among us. Mr. Hargrave, our Principle, got on the intercom and told the whole school that our President had been shot and taken to Parkland. He lead us in prayer for the President, his family, and our country. Then Mr. Hargrave announced that classes would be closed at the next bell. Students needing help getting home should come to the auditorium.

Odd, how clear that memory became as I typed.

Sophomore in high school, just south of Dallas. Principal came on the intercom, and told everyone, wherever they were, to sit down. Then he announced that the president had been shot, and was dead. School was dismissed. We walked outside to see the flag at half-staff.

I was a negative 5 years old. Momma was a junior in high school, but Daddy was a rookie on the Dallas Police force actually a block away from Deally Plaza. He saw JFK pass by and then heard the shots a couple of minutes later. He would always get choked up telling his story of that day.

These are very powerful memories. I was not born yet, but the images are ingrained on my mind.

I wonder, God forbid, something like that happened again in this age if principals would lead a prayer for the president and schools would be closed early? It's not PC.

Curious, if schools outside NY closed on 9-11?

I just wanted to ask:
1) How and when Oswald knew about the route of the motorcade?
2) When Oswald got the job at the place the shot came from? And, who hired him.
3) How in the world, the work of place and and route of the motorcade coincide to provide a linear 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock line of fire?
