In our part of NW Montana, the wild turkeys are so plentiful that they're almost nuisances. It's not uncommon to see 20-30 in a field at one time. They come right up to the RV and torment our cat who is watching them through the screen door. They're not interested in being handled or petted but they also know we're not going to harm them.

BTW, our turkey and dressing, etc., eaten with friends today, was pretty good. How 'bout yours?

The last part of this movie convinced me that I would never try to pet a wild turkey, at least not an adult tom turkey.

Mine was pretty good, too. I heard that Wild Turkey makes good bourbon, but I don't know how you squeeze it out of them.

The two turkeys pardoned in 2012 - Cobbler and Gobbler - died within a year of their White House appearance, despite what a spokeswoman at Mount Vernon said was diligent veterinary care.

Gobbler died on February 5, 2013, of natural causes. Cobbler lived a bit longer, dying on August 22, 2013, after he fell ill and had to be euthanized. Both are buried at Mount Vernon.

In the two years prior, three of the four pardoned turkeys died less than five months after their pardon.

There's an ObamaCare joke in there somewhere.
