Welcome to the Forum. I presume your instructor wants you to bring the CHL-16, but I'm not sure. Here's a link to it: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/InternetFo ... CHL-16.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Welcome to the Forum!
Lawbook: Hmmmm, never heard THAT requirement before!
I know that when I took the class (twice) that was never required.
You will cover some of the laws, but we didn't need the source book.

Welcome to the forum. When I took my first class the instructor passed out a copy of the CHL laws.
Even if he didn't I would have downloaded a copy for myself. It isn't required for the course, but it's a good resource to have.

Re: hello forum-newbie here...
I would also guess they mean the CHL-16 but every instructor is different. The only way to know for sure is ask the instructor who gave you the checklist for their class. Best wishes for your journey to licensed carry.
Re: hello forum-newbie here...
You should be able to print it after doing the online application.staceydking wrote:where to go to get barcoaded page?

Re: hello forum-newbie here...
I didn't think it was mandatory to start the online application before you take the class. I took my class in June and didn't start my app until August (was in the process of buying a new home and didn't want to mess with address change or be in transition during background check).
Re: hello forum-newbie here...
You need to go to the DPS site and start your application. You will do your initial paperwork and pay your first fee. After all that, you will get a confirmation page that has your barcode on it.staceydking wrote:where to go to get barcoaded page?

Re: hello forum-newbie here...
As far as DPS is concerned, you can do them in any order, but regardless of order the online application is how you get the barcode.Texsquatch wrote:I didn't think it was mandatory to start the online application before you take the class.
