Two Women Save Bus Passengers

Post by WildBill »

I thought I would post some positive news for a change. This happened in the central coast area of California, in an area close to Mo's BBQ in Pismo Beach.
Two female bus passengers are credited with averting what could have been a large-scale disaster Friday morning when they quickly and bravely took the wheel of their Amtrak bus traveling at full speed on Highway 101 after the driver suffered a medical emergency and lost consciousness. The women were able to steer the bus to the side of the road and safely bring it to a stop. The driver, a 42-year-old Los Osos man whose name has not been released, was declared dead at the scene.

Seriously, thanks for posting the story. It's a great example of putting a plan into action to prevent a bigger tragedy.

:thumbs2: Even though the politics of California suck, IMO the majority of the residents are good people with "normal" values.

"Even though the politics of California suck, IMO the majority of the residents are good people with "normal" values."

For the most part, this perspective holds true in the bluest of blue states once you get away from the major metropolitan areas.

I'm guessing that either the ballot box is rigged in blue states or the conservatives in those states simply don't vote in large enough numbers.

Once all of the major cities implode and self destruct things will get a little better.

I wonder what "full speed" is for an Amtrak bus?

Good news in Texas happens all the time. Good news out of California is a much bigger deal -- we usually get bad news from there!

I don't want to turn this into a political thread, but I just heard an interview with Craig McMichael on the radio today.
He is running against incumbent Kevin Brady for the Texas 8th Congressional District seat.
He said that the last election that there was [I don't remember the exact number, but something like] 15% voter turnout.
A small vocal minority who vote can change the politics over a majority of people who don't vote.

Santa Barbara police arrested an armed man Tuesday after neighbors reported him walking around his De La Vina Street property with a semi-automatic handgun. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but witnesses say the man had been in a dispute with a neighbor about a dog.

And you thought only Texans have problems with neighbors and dogs.
