Shot in the face with a coke bottle.

Post by bubba84 »

The wife, kids, and I were at the grocery store tonight and upon checking out the kids picked up some glass coke bottles. I finished checking out and we went out to my truck. Loaded all the groceries and the kids asked to drink their cokes on the way home. I didnt have a bottle opener. I went to the rear of my truck and put the lip of the lid on my tow hitch ball mount. I slapped the bottle to open it as I have done numerous times before. Well, unbeknownst to me, my son mustve been shaking his bottle. I heard a very loud pop and then white light. I stood up and realized the bottle cap and hit me in the face. Blood was running from my nose and my wife was laughing hysterically. I have been punched softer than that bottle cap hit me. I now sit here with a sore nose and a swollen lip. The wife is on the other end of the couch and starts to giggle every time she looks down at me.

Now they're going to ban glass Coke bottles. Think about the children, it's for their own good.

Glad there's no permanent damage. When I was 12, my dad asked me to open up this old, rusty, metal can of pesticide. I used pliers, gave it half a twist, then BOOM, the cap hit me below the eye, luckily the chemicals only sprayed out a little and mostly fanned out on my shirt. I had a nice shiner for a while. Told everyone my dad hit me.

Just imagine the trouble you would be in if it had happened to your wife and you had laughed at her. Might have earned you a few nights on the couch.

Yeah all the men in my family are void of the ability to grow subtantial facial hair. I shave every 2 weeks.

I am not suggesting wearing safety glasses every time a person opens a coke bottle, but with chemicals and pesticides it is a very good idea.
I have several pairs at home.
They have the side shields and fit over my prescription glasses.
Of course, every shooter needs eye protection too!

Suggestion to bubba84 - Buy a bottle opener and keep it in the glove box of your truck. :thumbs2:

I see no humor in your accident.

If such a thing happened to my wife, I'd first do what it'd take to help stanch the bleeding along with much love and sympathy.

Head/Facial wounds bleed like crazy most of the time and can scare the dickens out of folks.
