Russian Troops Using AR Rifles in the Crimea


The Firearm Blog speculates that the use of AR type rifles is part of the lack of visible unit patches and other identifying things so that Russians can maintain "deniability" in certain circumstances.

I just thought that it was interesting, since all of their other rifles are based on the AK platform, whether it is a carbine or a DMR.

Did you see how that AR was set up? Scoped with some pretty potent looking glass, suppressed, and with a bipod for stability. NOT your average, run-of-the-mill issue rifle. And a LOT more accurate than any AK derivative, either.

If we had a real President:

Anyone who thinks Putin is going to satisfied with Crimea is dreadfully naive. He knows full well Obama is not going to do a doggone thing to stop him and in the next 2.5 years he will fully rebuild the old Soviet Union. Putin would be crazy to stop now and wait for someone with a spine to get elected over here.

You are absolutely correct about the current occupier of the white house.

Number 2 is a nice thought, but flooding tubes and opening outer doors with warshots loaded is a direct act of war.

I am convinced nember 3 and 4 are a fact since the nuclear threat never changed once the Berlin Wall came down. The weapons are still out there as are the launch vehicles and platforms. It is interesting to note that in our arsenal the target information is not actually programmed into the warheads until just before launch. That way a jettisoned missile has no target information that would make an errant shot possible. If a missile malfunctions they must be jettisoned very very quickly, particularly from submarines. The fuel has its own oxidizing agent in it so once ignited there is nothing in the world that will extinguish the flame.

Scuttlebutt is just that. I remember when that Korean airliner was shot down. I was in boot and the scuttlebutt was that they were going to cut our boot short and ship us out to the fleet for deployment in case we were needed for a response.

I am disheartened (but not surprised) that Obama believe the greatest threat to the US is a nuclear bomb being set off in Manhattan rather than Putin causing WWIII with his reckless advances in states that were formerly part of the Soviet Union. To me this says Obama is more focused on the American people being a threat to our own country than foreign powers throughout the world, because he previously claimed al-Qaeda was defeated, the only people left to focus on are “radical right-wing terrorist”.

I was flipping channels and saw the Comedy Central “newsman” Jon Stewart mock republican talking heads by showing them first saying Obama is a weak president, then showing them saying he was a tyrant bent on domination. I believe both are correct depending on who Obama is considering. For foreign powers he will roll over and expose his belly, for domestic policies he will suspect every citizen of this country of ill-defined “crimes” and use all available power he has to spy on, arrest, expose, and convict anyone who stands in his way or his parties way. NSA, IRS, DEA, DOJ, BATF, et al, are his weapons against the American people and he uses them for his own personal power. Foreign powers are not his concern, let America be weak so he can instill fear with which he can easier control. I find it sad so many can't see this.

There are a few dictators in history like Stalin and Hitler who were brutal to their countrymen and powerful men on the world stage as well. The vast majority of dictators are a lot more like Idi Amin. They create havoc in their homeland but are insignificant to the rest of the world. Obama is more like Idi Amin. He should take note that the only people who fear him are Americans, not Russian or Iranians or Syrians....

I don't even watch him speak. There are only a few things he can say I want to hear and he is not likely to ever say them.
