Hybrid Application - Lapsed Renewal

Post by para driver »

Let my CHL lapse due to finances, so had to take the full course again.
Did my 10+, smoked the exam and the proficiency.. like riding a bike.

Since DPS has a prior CHL, background and fingerprints, I hope they treat it more like a renewal than a new application?? We'll see how long it takes.

5/12/07 took exam
5/13/07 mailed package
5/14/07 first possible day DPS could receive (day 1)
5/18/07 NOT on file at DPS website (day 5)
5/23/07 Check clears bank (day 9)
5/24/07 (at least it got there) (day 10)

5/23/07 DPS sends acknowledgement letter and PIN (day 9)
They referenced my OLD CHL number, so maybe they are handling it like a renewal??? Might go faster??
5/29/07 receive letter at residence (day 15)

status changed today 6/21 to "application completed-license issued" (day 39)..
allowing 5 days for mail, that would put it right around 44-45 days door to door..

arrive on 6/29.. so that's 47 days if I use all my fingers and toes correctly..

Techinically mine was a new application, since I let it lapse. Coincidentally, my friend who had a regular (not expired) renewal took exactly the same time.
