30.06 Methodist Hospital Sugar Land
So over the weekend my dad had quadruple bypass surgery in the Methodist hospital in Sugar Land. Being the responsible carrier that I am, I checked the Texas 30.06 map and only found that one of the 5-6 buildings had the sign. Well even on my way into the hospital, I checked around and surely enough no 30.06. Well it wasn't until 4 days later I walked in and my younger brother pointed out a 30.06 sign I had missed for 4 straight days. It was ankle high on the automatic sliding doors! Proper size and stuff but maybe not displayed "conspicuously" because I missed it for 4 days and when the door is slid open it's even more out of sight. What do you guys think? Sorry if this has been asked before but I stopped carrying obviously after I saw it. And my dad is doing great in recovery.

Glad your dad is doing well. My opinion is if it was seen by your younger brother, it must have been conspicuous enough to meet the requirements to be legally enforceable. Since nothing happened, I would move on and just be a little more careful in the future. Two things I believe, you shouldn't have to seek out a sign and there are some places, hospitals being one, I've just grown to expect to find a sign and I pay a little more attention when entering them.
It's easy to armchair quarterback and second guess events that have already happened. I say, no harm no foul. Next!

For information purposes, all of the Methodist hospitals in the DFW area are 30.06 posted, most in a similar manner to what you found at your location.

Another good reason why this innocent mistake should not be a Class A Misdemeanor.

I think that most hospitals are posted. At least all that I have been to, both in the DFW area and Houston area as well.

I agree about the hospitals. I did not carry walking in the first time because I expected a sign to be there. After looking at the door and not spotting one, I though "oh cool, didn't expect this" and carried right along. But what's interesting is, if someone were to walk in with the sliding door opened because someone just walked in briefly before, you would not be able to reasonably see it in a "conspicuous" manner. It's conspicuous 90% of the time.

People don't see signs they don't want to see. It's quite aggravating to hear visitors in our state park tell us they didn't know there was an entrance fee.

I would consider myself "otherwise authorized by law".

Haven't been to the McKinney location. Charlton, Mansfield, and Dallas are all posted.sjfcontrol wrote:This is the Methodist hospital in McKinney -- i interpret this as CHL friendly!jmra wrote:For information purposes, all of the Methodist hospitals in the DFW area are 30.06 posted, most in a similar manner to what you found at your location.

Most of the hospital postings I've seen have been invalid. Methodist usually uses "guns are banned" language, not the 30-06 language.
A Baylor (Houston) building has a possibly valid posting, but it's silverish letters on a window, and can be invisible depending on the lighting.
