Hogden TightGroup:
4.5gr 165gr plated Raineir RNFP bullet from MidwayUSA.
Light taper crimp.
Should this work OK for practice only?
1.125 OAL?
Shooting a G23 Gen4
Thanks

I reload the 165gr Rainier HP all the time and have probably loaded about 5k at this point. Just remember that they are dipped bullets - not plated - so you should use lower powder weights than you would normally.
Don't crimp them - there's no need. Just set your die to crimp to the point where it straightens the case wall and not cut into the bullet. Crimping with soft bullets like Rainier or Berry's you'll likely end up with a wrinkle of copper at the case mouth which will prevent the round from chambering all the way.
As for the powder and charge - I'm not sure. I run Winchester231 @5.3grains which gets me about 1000fps.
Overall length I set is 1.125"
