Ever wondered which gun lube is best??
Check out this thread from another forum. The guy put in a lot of work in evaluating quite a few lubes. Interesting info.

I need to toss some products and go buying (I don't shop).

I almost feel compelled to send the guy a donation. He put in lots of money and time to do that analysis.

Re: Ever wondered which gun lube is best??
I actually might go with both. I would use the WD40 on stored weapons and the One Shot dry lube on carry weapons. I like the dry lube concept on carry weapons, especially my semi autos.

That guy is awesome! And confirmed my faith in my favorite product, Frog Lube. We tried it because I like the smell (wintergreen), but continue to use it because of performance. Just good stuff.
Re: Ever wondered which gun lube is best??
That's a great link!
I've been churning through lots of info trying to figure out what product I could/should switch to for my guns. Been using mostly Ballistol and some Hoppes, but want to switch to something that doesn't "stink up the house" and does a good job.
Frog Lube seems to have a lot of proponents and detractors, but this has convinced me to give it a try.
Thanks for posting this.

Fire Clean for me.
Re: Ever wondered which gun lube is best??
I had been wanting to try Frog lube and got my first opportunity when a forum member here did not like the smell. I bought the liquid and paste from her and have been using it ever since and think it is great. I like the smell and also think it smells like wintergreen, but my wife thinks it smells like Bengay.Crossfire wrote:That guy is awesome! And confirmed my faith in my favorite product, Frog Lube. I like Lubriplate 130-A Mil Spec. I have used it for about 50 yrs. Not on the list of tests.

The Froglube I have smells like Pepto Bismol. It's just confusing because it's green not pink.

Re: Ever wondered which gun lube is best??
Excellent article. For long term storage protection his methodology is valid.
I would suggest that you also review tests that include high(direct impingement) and low(winter hunts) sustained temperatures before making a choice. The lube that works well at room temperatures may well volatilize at the operating temp of the weapon and leave you running dry. Or it may freeze solid in sub-zero temperatures and you lose your shot.
Unfortunately the folks who do those types of tests are usually the manufacturer of the product.
One of the manufacturers that wasn't represented in the tests was Mil-Comm. Their products TW25B lubricant, MC25 cleaner, MC50 bore cleaner are the products that I have come to rely on for my carry and plinking guns as well as my static investment collection.
