How many times in one day???

…did you actually check the status of your application. I think my record the first day I received my pin was 15. Now I am down to four times a day. Like an addict, its baby steps to winging myself off.

4/25 class
5/1 Mailed packet
5/3 packet received in Austin.
5/16 Pin received and started eating up bandwidth on the DPS page rechecking

6/18 Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

I have a friend who has a relative working in the DPS CHL department. Supposedly they track the number of logins and status checks. Those that check too frequently are often moved "to the bottom of the pile." Supposedly that's their way of teaching patience. ;-)

I think TXI meant bologna, the giant hot dog made of mystery meat. It's named after a city in Italy, and I second the call.

People working at DPS have specific duties that they perform for a reason. Everything they do is dictated by statute or regulation.

+1, they got better things to do... but if you call them on the phone a few times, I'd agree with that... I check 3-4 times a day since we should be getting close..

I spoke with a lady at DPS today. Apparently there was a mix up between me and someone with the same name as me. That someone owes some back property taxes. It was cleared up and I was told that the trooper was going to finish processing my application. At least I know that they are working on it and its not sitting on a desk somewhere.

Such an act by the DPS CHL Bureau would seem very capricious to me.
