Hello to all.
I've been lurking on this board for a while and figured I might as well register.
I've been in Texas for 7 years, originally from Sweden, but I'm a Finn if that makes sense to anyone.
I bought my first and (so far) only firearm about a month ago after dragging my feet about it ever since I moved here. There is a very misleading answer in the Texas DPS FAQ section about "aliens" being unable to get a CHL or purchase a firearm. I believed them, until the Virginia Tech massacre happened and they said the shooter was a permanent resident. I thought "If he could buy one, I sure should be able to", and after days of searching, I finally found the answer I was looking for on the BATFE web site FAQ.
The next day I had my local shop order a Glock 19. It took a few day to get there, and then a couple of days extra because of a NICS delay.
I've put around 1000 rounds through it so far, and my wife bought herself a Bersa Thunder 380 a few weeks ago. We have both been going to the range for practise weekly, and just yesterday completed the CHL class.
I guess we will both be in the "waiting room" starting tomorrow, when we mail out packet to Austin.
I have enjoyed reading the posts of this site. It sure is nice to have a place to discuss CHL issues specific to Texas.

Welcome aboard & we are glad to have you. Welcome to Texas.
Being from Finland makes perfect sence to em. My long range hunting rifle is a Tikka T-3 Hunter in .300 WSM. OOOOOH I like it.

Just wanted to say welcome.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

I was going to ask if your last name was Torvalds, but we're in the wrong state for that.Fosforos wrote:Hello to all.
