What would be your only center fire rifle?

Post by drjoker »

What would be your only center fire rifle if you had to choose from one that you already own? Please post the model rifle, brand, and caliber. Thanks :tiphat:

I previously posted a similar poll but many forum members misunderstood that poll and thought I meant it is only for hunting. That was not my intent. Many people own rifles but never hunt. Also, many thought that would be the ONLY rilfe you would own and posted that they would own a .22lr rifle if that were the only rifle they could own. I meant to post a poll regarding CENTERFIRE rifles. You can own as many rimfire rifles as you'd like, but if, theoretically, you can only own ONE CENTERFIRE rifle and have to give up all your other centerfire rifles, which one would you pick?

I only have one -- a pre-'64 Model 70 Winchester, in .270 .

Actually, probably my '03-A3 Springfield, but my Garand will do.

AR10 - 7.62 NATO / .308 :thumbs2:
I felt this was an all around good caliber and platform to have for pretty much anything I wanted to do.

FNH SCAR 17 .308

Yes, I am saying it is that good.
Bolt action accuracy, women can shoot it.
I have thought if I had to sell everything else... this would be the one that stays.

I am in full agreement with The Marshall. Although I really like my Tikka 30.06 bolt rifle I would go with the capacity of the SCAR 17 and the 308 is close to the 30.06 in ballistics. I would give up some distance although it would be offset by the firepower.

The question is like: "Which is the only shoes you will ever wear? Diversity, Diversity my friends!
If you would like to know what is best for this or that, please ask again.
You can start with an AK, add a Berretta Pistol and a Shotgun, then pick Precision Rifle like a Tikka or Steyr Manliecher SSG, etc.

It's a ridiculous question, of course, but I'll humor it for the moment....

My left-handed Remington 700 VSF in .308 Winchester.

But seriously, I would burn through the other ones I own defending my right to have as many of whatever I want before I would surrender them to be "allowed" to keep just one. I'd rather be found dead in a pile of spent brass than to have someone else make that decision for me.

I picked the mini 14 because I have a ruger ranch rifle that I will not part with because it was a gift from my father.

Same here.
