Ohhh, I almost forgot...

Post by stevie_d_64 »

Yet another piece of plastic arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon...

Made its way into brand new wallet for the occasion...Italian, hand crafted genuine leather bi-fold...

Now if I can just get some money put in it too...

This renewal I believe took about the max time to process...

Wife's renewal hit a snag on some naturalization paperwork they (Austin) failed to file on her initial application...That issue should for most be resolved on you next renewal...

We filed together, so I figure hers will show up here in a few weeks...

And an update...Sort of...

Wife Unit got her renewal plastic 7/18/07 Wednesday...

Looks like mine took 44 days and hers took 57 days...

The delay for her was the need to resubmit her naturalization papers, or a copy of her passport...Which she could have faxed that copy, or mailed it, which is what she did...

Looks like the process is running on time...Even with a hiccup like this...

Now...We are still waiting on our Utah CHP's...Thats looking like its going to take about 9 months to a year to get that in the mail...

They told us they are processing the in-state folks first before they even look at our applications...My last inquiry was made to them back in June...

The window for us to get them would be between late August and late November...They got our apps in on the 15 of March, 2007...

I might ping them again just to say "Hi"...See whats going on...

Stevie, I'm relieved to see that you and your wife both got squared-away with DPS. This reassures me about the processing time on my pending CHL application...hopefully it won't take longer than 40-50 days! On another note, I'm curious about the Utah CHP; I've seen a few folks around here apply for these Utah permits and I'm wondering if I should also apply for one of those.

Are you guys from Utah, or does the Utah permit simply give you the advantage of carrying in states that don't recognize the TX CHL? Is the Utah permit a non-resident type, and did you have to physically go to Utah in order to complete the required proficiency training?

Thanks in advance,
-BK

No, I am a native Texan...Perish the thought of living anywhere else...

Wife is a naturalized citizen...(Mail order bride  I am sooo going to get a noogie for that comment...)

She had to resubmit some verifiable form of proof of citizenship this last go around...No big deal, put her plastic back about 10 days...

As far as Utah goes...That is a permit that will go in the gunsafe, and probably only see the light of day if we somehow lose our Texas CHL for whatever reason...I don't think you should carry it on you all the time...It makes a great back up in this case while you are getting the replacement Texas CHL...

Catch muh drift??? ;-)

Sure at this time it only gives you two additional states, but thats ok...It'll come in handy when you need it...And you'll always have it...Renewal for a Utah CHP is a breeze though, as you only send them $10, maybe a new picture if you need one, and you'll get it for another 5 years...You don;t need to re-test, and there is no range qual...

"llwatson" and her husband, lets call him "Wild Man Marty" are both Utah instructors...I'd consider setting something up with them in the future and git er dun!

I see, maybe I'll just have to look into that Utah permit just in case I require a back-up one day...

Thanks for the tip!

Ahh yes...We didn't exactly get our Utah "plastic", but we sure did get this nifty letter from the BCI in Utah...

It bears the same weight and authority as a "plastic" or as they say "Laminated" permit...

It even has a fancy raised stamp on the letterhead...

I guess the license/permit shop ran out of plastic...Dirnit...

So I guess the long wait is over...And getting the "plastic" will be an anti-climax of sorts maybe...

About 130 days to process to get to this point for a Utah non-resident permit...

Something to keep in mind...

Good luck y'all...

So today we got the Utah plastic...Yippee! :totap: But...

If anyone knows me personally...What would you say is my predominate hair color???

I need to find the copy of what I sent them...I could have sworn I sent them the form, and it said "BRN" on the hair color...

I got back something else...Granted I DOOOO have a bit of a swath of "GRY" smack daddy in the middle of my forehead, but thats just because the picture showed it!!! Its not that big a deal...

I think someone in Utah is having some fun with me... ;-)

Oh well...Considering the length in time to process...I'll stand pat...Who knows...I may someday, actually have to say "GRY" someday...

Wife Unit has already cut the "Just for Men" joke...M-Kayyy...

They probably figured it took them so long to get it to you that you MUST be gray by now!

Coulda been worse... they could have changed you to "bald" :smilelol5:
