He is lucky he was picked up so quickly, there was a growing and serious plan to end him painfully on Latino social media page here in Houston. He is obviously not right in the head, not that it excuses him of the crime. However I don't think mob rules justice would be best result.

HPD press conference happening now. Bottom line, the police found positive evidence that Calhoun was in Pearland at the time of the stabbing.

Still in jail on unrelated charges.
I'm saying good work by HPD. Cleared a man who was a suspect, system working.

And even more important for him now so. Imagine there wouldn't have been a whole lot of hand wringing done had they caught him. Lucky Man, less of course whatever he was caught doing in Pearland.DevilDawg wrote:He is lucky he was picked up so quickly, there was a growing and serious plan to end him painfully on Latino social media page here in Houston. In Pearland? I would hope they could narrow it down a bit more than that if they are going to charge someone.Skiprr wrote:HPD press conference happening now. Bottom line, the police found positive evidence that Calhoun was in Pearland at the time of the stabbing.

The eleven-year-old boy, Josue Flores, was stabbed Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Fulton St. and James while he was walking home from Marshal Middle School. That's in the middle of I-45 and 59, a mile or a little more north of I-10. The evidence that HPD gathered and confirmed put the accused, Che Calhoun, in Pearland at the time of the stabbing, some 20+ miles away. That's what cleared him.MechAg94 wrote:In Pearland? Calhoun remains under arrest for an unrelated altercation the previous Monday evening. He was involved in a fight at 2100 North Main. METRO officers tired to arrest him. He resisted, was tazed, but still escaped. HPD was called. So patently Calhoun still isn't a good guy, but he couldn't have been the person who murdered eleven-year-old Josue. Let's hope they get the real perp soon.

Setting aside everything else, it frightens the "you know what" out of me that 3 people positively ID'd a person that was not there.
Re: TX: Houston, man who stabbed 11 year old boy to death, captured
It shouldn't. Witness identification of a stranger has proven to be wildly inaccurate. Most people simply lack the attention to detail that is necessary. Typically when they see a crime happen, the act itself steals all of their attention. Facial features. and even what clothes the perp was wearing will vary widely among people who all saw the same thing. Each person remembers it differently.Ryan wrote:Setting aside everything else, it frightens the "you know what" out of me that 3 people positively ID'd a person that was not there.

Prosecutors requested bail be set a $100,000.
Seems low to me.
He was however living at the Salvation Army, which is nearby from the site of the murder. They are cooperating in whatever way they can.
It has been pointed out to me, that Charity organizations, who provide for the homeless, often concentrate crime in the area around where they operate. There is a particular children's playground I am aware of which is really out of commission as a children's playground because of a nearby church's charitable work. Not sure what the answer here is.
