Hi all,

Ok Im looking at the 24/7 OSS in 45acp. Now if I have read right this thing is sa/da with a decocking safty/manual safty. You should be able to use it in SSP, ESP and CDP. I think? Do you think that?

I will do my best to answer this. According to Taurus, the OSS is a Single Action first but with the ability to take a double action trigger pull if the primer fails to ignite a round.
Since the gun is SA first shot, no matter what, it can not be used in IDPA SSP. It would be allowed in ESP or CDP (if chambered in 45acp and downloaded to 8 rounds)

If the gun can be carried in a DA first shot mode then it would be allowed in SSP. I cannot really determine this from Taurus' description.
Ultimately, IDPAHQ would have to make the decision based on how much the striker is actually pre-loaded, if at all, when a round is in the chamber and the decocker is used.

edited to add: The OSS has a 5.25" barrel. I'm thinking it may not fit in the IDPA sizer box.
Factory spec for overall leangth is 8.25".

The overall weight of the gun could also be a factor for SSP....I don't know how much the empty mags weigh. For SSP the maximum weight with an empty magazine is 39 oz. If I am reading the weights properly, the OSS is 5 or 6 ounces heavier than a Glock 21

That is a lot of pistola.

Ok if i read it right, the 1911 is 39oz in wt and the OSS is 32oz in wt. now on the LOA I dont know for sure. It will be interesting to see what IDPA does on this one...

P.S. the Glock 34 is 8.15" long and the OSS is 8.25" long... ouch I think the LOA will kill the OSS for IDPA...

The OSS is 8.25" long the box is 8.75" providing the gun isn't over 6" tall and 1 5/8" thick it should make CDP and ESP not sure about SSP.

I thought it was pretty clear that it could be carried either SA Condition 1, or DA.

From the Taurus site:

"...the combat-necessary ambidextrous decock/safety levers that allow for 'cocked and locked' and/or Double Action carry, SA/DA indicator on the rear of the slide shows whether the pistol is in 'cocked' or 'decocked' mode..."

I'm pretty familiar with the 24/7 and the OSS stuff.

it's single action basically only if it's cocked. If you were to de-cock it on the first round you should be in compliance.
