Manly wear for Longtooth?
Manly wear for Longtooth?
Courtesy of Law Dog's newest post, comes an entry about how to carry a handgun while dressed in the civilized wear of a savage race (my ancestors!)

I'm here for ya, LT...
Actually, folks, LT prefers to open carry when he's wearing his kilt. Did you know "Kimber" is one of the most ancient Scottish Clans? Here's an older picture of LT at--I think--the opening of the 1995 Highland Games:

Don't mess with the bagpiper packin' twin 1911s.

Maybe if they had had those around 1000AD, the folks from my native country (Sweden) would have been nicer to them.
I don't think the Swedish Vikings ventured too much into the British Isles/Ireland. I seem to remember they mainly went east toward Russia, Volga and the Black sea.
Those from Denmark and Norway are most responsible for their presence to the south (The Shetlands and Orkney's). Depending on which battle you want to cite, many of them lost their heads there. I don't think "nice" was being exercised by either side for quite some time.

Anyway, never tease a man about his Kilt or his dog.

Flint.
(I'm Scot/Irish if you couldn't already tell).

Norse Gaels. They came to conquer, but they were assimilated.flintknapper wrote:I don't think the Swedish Vikings ventured too much into the British Isles/Ireland.
Well, I can't claim any viking ancestry whatsoever. My family is from Finland, and the Finns only had minor scuffles with the Russians and never ventured far from home. And that can be easily proven: There are no archeological remains of saunas in other countries. Finns wouldn't go anywhere without building a sauna.KBCraig wrote:Norse Gaels. Well........I do love a sauna!
Maybe I should look back into my ancestry a little deeper.

Sorry to contribute to this hijack -- but the Finn I married has the crazy idea of building a sauna IN TEXAS, I say, "baby go sit on the porch if you want a sauna" (cheaper that way!)flintknapper wrote:Fosforos wrote:Well, I can't claim any viking ancestry whatsoever. 'Scuse me for bumping this old thread back to life. I was looking for the link I had posted to Neokilts, and just now noticed this:
Talk about a nation of riflemen -- Switzerland must envy Finland!
"Minor scuffles", eh? Wow, I'd had to see what the Finns could do if they really got serious! As one Russian general remarked on being congratulated for capturing Karelia, "Yes, we gained just enough land to bury our dead."Fosforos wrote:Well, I can't claim any viking ancestry whatsoever. Re: Re:
Well, I was referring back to the viking age. Finland did do well in the Winter War and the subsequent Continuation War. I think the quote from the sniper Simo Häyhä is priceless - when asked what the secret of his skills was, he replied "Practice".KBCraig wrote:'Scuse me for bumping this old thread back to life. Re: Manly wear for Longtooth?
If you had an AD in that kilt rig ,well let's just say you woud have a rapid gender transition

It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
