Maybe if they had had those around 1000AD, the folks from my native country (Sweden) would have been nicer to them.

Actually, folks, LT prefers to open carry when he's wearing his kilt. Did you know "Kimber" is one of the most ancient Scottish Clans? Here's an older picture of LT at--I think--the opening of the 1995 Highland Games:

I don't think the Swedish Vikings ventured too much into the British Isles/Ireland. I seem to remember they mainly went east toward Russia, Volga and the Black sea.

Those from Denmark and Norway are most responsible for their presence to the south (The Shetlands and Orkney's). Depending on which battle you want to cite, many of them lost their heads there. I don't think "nice" was being exercised by either side for quite some time.

Anyway, never tease a man about his Kilt or his dog.

Well, I can't claim any viking ancestry whatsoever. My family is from Finland, and the Finns only had minor scuffles with the Russians and never ventured far from home. And that can be easily proven: There are no archeological remains of saunas in other countries. Finns wouldn't go anywhere without building a sauna.

Well, I can't claim any viking ancestry whatsoever. My family is from Finland, and the Finns only had minor scuffles with the Russians and never ventured far from home. And that can be easily proven: There are no archeological remains of saunas in other countries. Finns wouldn't go anywhere without building a sauna.

Maybe I should look back into my ancestry a little deeper.

Sorry to contribute to this hijack -- but the Finn I married has the crazy idea of building a sauna IN TEXAS, I say, "baby go sit on the porch if you want a sauna" (cheaper that way!)

Well, I was referring back to the viking age. Finland did do well in the Winter War and the subsequent Continuation War. I think the quote from the sniper Simo Häyhä is priceless - when asked what the secret of his skills was, he replied "Practice".

If you had an AD in that kilt rig ,well let's just say you woud have a rapid gender transition
