Smart Phone Suggestions, if you please.....
I currently have a Samsung Core Prime and want to upgrade to something bigger, better and faster. I wear hearing aids and am not a heavy phone user but I do like to be able to take a decent picture and check in with mail, forums, etc. and to hear what is being said when I do use the phone.
I'm not worthy of an $800 iPhone 7. What phones do y'all use? BTW, I'm a Straight Talk subscriber.

Straight Talk has iPhone 6 for $400 or iPhone 5S for $150. I have the 5S and it works fine for me.

Watch for great prices for Christmas at places like Best Buy. It seems that I always buy new phones in December. Last year a new phone for my wife was free plus fantastic mail in offers from Samsung including a free wireless charger and studio quality headphones. I like the Samsung Galaxies.

Another vote for the Nexus 6P. It's got a big screen, it's fast, has a great fingerprint sensor, etc. I use Project Fi (Google's cell service) and pay around $30 a month for unlimited talk/text and a gig of data. If I go over my data, I'm charged for the exact amount that I used at a reasonable rate. I think my biggest bill was $39 or something like that.Russell wrote:I have the Nexus 6p - spectacular flagship phone and not bloated with carrier apps.
Can be had for less than $300 on Amazon.

Go shopping. Hit a couple of the phone stores and get demo's of the various models, then make your choice. I've had Android and Apple and currently use an i6+ and it works for me. That said, I'd switch back to Android without much hesitation. I guess I'm not a purist. Check some out and decides what seems to be the best for you.

My wife bought one on sale at Frye's for $10.00.
It was once a big whoop de doo phone, but it grew old and younger, smarter, much, much more expensive phones came along...
She uses it to listen to audio books and take the occasional photo.
No plans to connect it to the internet or use it as a phone.
If that were to ever happen, the Luddite hammer would be employed...dang ole smarty-pants phones, I hate em...when I see people using one as a phone it looks like their eating an oyster on the half-shell, weirdos...

Iphone is less likely to get a virus than android models. I have only had iphone (believe it or not still using a 4) but my wife had a samsung galaxy note 3 and after updates which were automatic she had terrible battery life problems. She now has a iphone 6+ and loves it. I personally don't like apple company but I think they make the best phones.

For Android OS, I like the Moto X Pure edition. Best Buy carries it, price runs from $250-$400 depending on how much memory you spec, and wether you catch one of the periodic sales.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward a Galaxy 6 or 7. We were told at Best Buy that Straight Talk phones are sold only by WalMart?TxRVer wrote:Watch for great prices for Christmas at places like Best Buy. Check out the Google Fi project. I think you can still get the Nexus 5X for $200 (have to purchase up front) and then the phone service is $20/mo (unlimited talk & text) plus $10/GB of data. If you're not a heavy data user, it's really a good deal. Additional phones are $15/mo plus data charges. Service is provided by Sprint, T-Mobile, and Clear Channel, so coverage may not be quite as good in rural areas as AT&T or Verizon but it's still good.
Search for "Google Fi" and you'll find more details. Wife and I each have a 5X and we're pretty happy with them. I will say that, in my opinion, the overall quality of the 5X isn't quite as good as Samsung or Apple but it's quite serviceable — just my 2¢.

Straight Talk is a Tracfone brand exclusive to Walmart. You can also buy a phone from their website, and I believe they have BYOP for unlocked phones.Oldgringo wrote: We were told at Best Buy that Straight Talk phones are sold only by WalMart?

I am hearing impaired. I use the HTC One. I've had two, my current one is the M9. Simple reason. It is the loudest phone I have found. It's got all the bells and whistles if you want them also. I'm a fan of the dot view cover that protects the screen too.
Do what you say you're gonna do.

I would stay away for any smart phone that does not have a battery that can be replaced by the user.
