Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?
For carry why?
Re: Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?
I mostly carry IWB, It conceals best, doesn't move around and helps keep my pants from falling to the ground.
There was one popular option left out that a lot of people elect pocket carry. I don't carry that way though. I do on occassion carry OWB, but IWB is the way I carry with my most favored handgun.

OWB since I have to disarm multiple times a day (drop off at daycare, work, etc.), and a paddle holster is the easiest way to do this. Can't stand having to unbutton my jeans, untuck shirt, shove holster in pants, retuck in shirt, rebutton jeans and reverse every time I want to disarm/re-arm with an IWB.

I carry almost exclusively OWB these days. For one it is more comfortable for me. I could never find an IWB holster that was comfortable over a long day, I was always having to adjust, move, shift etc. Second, I OC on a regular basis, and having my gun in the exact same place at all times, whether OC or CC, helps my muscle memory. (as my normal memory starts to fade, I feel that it is important) Third, with an OWB my draw time, even under a cover garment, is slightly faster than with IWB.
Everyone is different, and your results, and mileage, may vary. But that is why there is more than one type of holster sold.

OWB because it is the most comfortable. I have never found a shoulder holster that was comfortable nor are IWB holsters comfortable. I do occasionally pocket carry.
Re: Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?
OWB. Comfort and keeps sweat from the blued finish.
Re: Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?
OWB, comfort, quick access.
Just the thought of an IWB holster, gives me the hee-be-jeebies...far too complicated and looks terribly uncomfortable, but sure, if you like it, I'm glad for you.
The only should rig I've tried was a Kangaroo holster and it was a miserable failure.
Thankfully, a low cost failure.
After that disappointment, I'm leery of shoulder holsters.

I used to carry IWB in a Sparks Summer Special but now that I'm on sabbatical I carry OWB for comfort.
sent to you from my safe space in the hill country

OWB, wear long T shirts and no one ever notices. Its much more comfortable. People are a lot more oblivious to their surroundings than we are.

After 20 years of IWB, I find that retirement has shifted me to OWB 95% of the time, with pocket carry making up the rest. Wearing untucked shirts and cargo shorts has a lot to do with it.
Re: Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?

After years of IWB, (which I prefer) I find that retirement (weight gain from less activity) has shifted me to OWB 95% of the time for my Primary Glock, with pocket carry for my BUG, secondary Pocket Glock
Right now I'm on a Grass Clippings Diet, Mustard Greens, Collard Greens, Turnip Greens, Spinach, Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, Seasoned Cabbage .... and hopefully that will cause my pants to expand so I will IWB again.
Re: Why do you choose OWB or IWB or Shoulder?
I'm IWB 98% of the time with pockey cary being the other 2%. Find the right belt/holster combo and a position or 2 that works for you and there is no issue with comfort. (for me anyway)
I just never spent the money on good holster OWB. If I OC which is only on my property or at the range, that just means my outer shirt is tucked in. I'd like a nice OWB holster but every time I have an extra $100-$150 I find better uses for it.

This, and it also works very well with dress shirt office wear (specifically the Deep Conceal products). Belly bands provide a similar function and advantages for me.george wrote:Shoulder all the way. Comfortable, and easy access while sitting and driving.
