Applied for CHL, but moving soon - what to do?
Hey guys. I'm new here (this is my first post), and I have a quick question. I'll start first with a quick introduction.
I just got my first gun 2 weekends ago at the Saxet gun show here in Austin. I'd been eying the GLOCK 22 for quite a while, and I saw a deal I just couldn't pass up. Used, like new, with 2 extra mags and original box for $430. I bought it, and I absolutely love it. I've already been to the range twice, and I plan on going back every week or 2 to continue to work with it. I already picked up 300 rounds of the cheap Wally World S&W FMJ, and this last weekend, I shot through 100 rounds of it.
Here're some pictures of the gun for fun:

Now, onto my question. I've already applied for my CHL online and paid my fees and everything. I'll be taking the class on August 8. However, I'm an idiot and didn't think to take into account the fact that I'll be moving out of my current apartment on August 16. As you can guess, the address I used on my CHL application is the one I'm currently in, and considering it takes up to 60 days to get the card, it could possibly be the middle of October before they mail it to me.
My question is this: will there be any potential conflicts? Should I contact the DOT to change my address now? Will the postal service forward the CHL without problem?
Thanks for any and all help! I'm really excited to be joining the CHL community. :)

Yes. DPS, not DOT.
800-224-5744. And be ready to wait a while to get to talk with a real person.

Welcome to the forum.

If you call DOT, all they are going to do is come over and pave your driveway...When they realize that you are not going to be there, and that they did the wrong road...They'll try to cover up their mistake and repave the new address, further wasting more of our tax dollars...(extreme sarcasm mode, off)
Now if you make the call to DPS, they'll hook you up just right...Just give them plenty of heads up...
How far along in the waiting process are you again???
Good luck on your move, and welcome to the forum...

If you paid online, they will send you the application to sign. You will have a chance to make corrections and add your new address then. Also attach a note explaining your move and when it will be.Fangs404 wrote:Hey guys. I'm new here (this is my first post), and I have a quick question. I'll start first with a quick introduction.

Oh, sweet. When can I expect that to come? I'll be moving in a little over 2 weeks, and I'll be taking the class in a little over 1.Mark G26 wrote:If you paid online, they will send you the application to sign. I'm at the beginning. I put in the online application and my payment on 7/22.stevie_d_64 wrote:How far along in the waiting process are you again???

The same happened to me. I took the class and then unexpectantly moved 3 weeks later when manager of the apartments I was living at said the rent was going way up. I just emailed DPS and they took care of it no problem. Don't wait though. As soon as you know your new email address let them know.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.
