still waiting for my plastic but i plan to carry a 3inch 1911 para ord slim hawg. iwb nylon cheapo or owb beltslide. cocked and locked with pow'rball 165gr .45 acp +p.
I think you will find that a good quality belt and holster are worth their weight in gold. I would advise you to spend a bit more on the leather portion of your CHL gear - you will be much more comfortable.
Me - I carry a 1911 in an OWB Tucker or a Galco shoulder holster. Or a S&W 642 via ankle (Galco Glove) or pocket.

It really depends on how you're built and how you dress.
My dad now wears an OWB high rise holster at 3 o'clock. http://www.epsaddlery.com/pc-149-11-high-slide.aspx
He has one of these high-rise set-ups for his 1911 and for his .38sp. (Got the idea from longtooth.)
He wears a button-down shirt untucked. He feels it just enough to be comforted by it, but it doesn't get in his way while driving or sitting. He says it provides fairly easy access as well.
If you are built with extra stuffing around the waist, it may be a problem.
I usually carry at 4 o'clock in an IWB. If I'm printing, I purse carry, although I'd rather not.
It really is a personal choice and depends on you. Some people like the smart carry. Some like the fanny pack. One lady here carries a small pistol in her bra at times. (Most members of this forum can't do that.)
Look at your build and how you dress. Much of it depends upon this.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

This might be a better resource for you to look at. And add your own when you get a chance. Its always nice to see others rigs.

I PREFER to carry my 1911 in a Summer 2 Milt Sparks holster. However, most of my clothes don't hide it well, and I learned the hard way that I can't operate with this set-up wearing low-rise jeans.htxred wrote:i was actually just curious to see what others carry and load with.
I usually end up with a Bersa Thunder .380 in a kydex shirt tucker holster from Comp-tac.
Sometimes, I carry both. (Big heater in the purse; little heater in the waistband.)
I use hollow points in my carry guns, but will switch specifically to Winchester Ranger hollow points next time I run across them at the gun show. They have an excellent reputation.
