Compact or Youth Stock for Ruger American in .270 Winchester

Post by Crash »

Does anybody know where I can buy a compact- or youth-length stock for a Ruger American in .270 Winchester? I like the rifle, but the LOP is just too long for me (I think it's 14"). I would prefer one with a 13" or shorter LOP. Ruger offers one as a replacement, but only in rifles with the short action.

Any help appreciated,

Have you looked at Boyd’s stocks? I think they have a 13” lop.

If it's a permanent solution, just cut it down where you actually want it and re-fit the recoil pad or plate. Worst case, any smith could do it fairly inexpensively

flechero,

It's a synthetic stock and I've been told you can't shorten it. If you did, you might cut it off past the surface that the recoil pad screws fit into.

Nuts,

Thanks for the info--I just checked Boyd's and they'll make any LOP you want.

Gotcha... you can pull the recoil pad and measure to see or even drill a hole from the end to verify if that's the case.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot.
