30th Anniversary of the Ecole Polytechnique Massacre in Montreal

1989. Man entered an engineering classroom separated the men from the women, told the men to leave then killed all the women. Then began shooting up the rest of the school building primarily targeting women.

Arriving police set up a perimeter allowing more casualties.

Men who fled felt guilty. Many questioned why no one attempted to stop him. Many people there developed PTSD. A number of suicides later.

15 victim fatalities. Ruger mini 14 and hunting knife. 9 injured. Almost all women. Committed suicide at the scene.

Strong force afterwards to control guns in Canada to this day.

I didn’t remember this event at all.

Quebec was already anti-gun due to separatists bombings in the 1960's and the activities of the Quebec Liberation Front terrorist group in the 60's and 70's. If memory serves correctly, early 70's was when the Hell's Angels tried to expand in to Montreal, which also kept the crime rate up......and didn't endear either guns or U.S. to the locals.....
