I would like to remind the mods that points are periodically erased from your driving record.Keith B wrote: Breaking them is kinda like getting a a traffic ticket, you lose points each time. Get enough speeding tickets and you lose enough points, you lose your license (aka banned.)

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
I see the mods responsibilities in a whole different way. To me it is the mods job to make sure I don't make somebody so mad that they look me up and punch me out. They have my back, in other words. If I say something that a mod feels crosses the line around here, I have no problem with them deleting my post. I have a very assertive personality and I am well aware that I can go too far at times. Sometimes I post things that come across more vindictive than I meant them to. In these cases, the mods save me from myself.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
Other than your first sentence, I am not sure what your response has to do with my post. I haven't witnessed anyone attacking a mod around here. On the contrary, I see major sucking up most of the time. Heck, just look at this thread. If the mods aren't feeling tingles by now, they never will.shortysboy09 wrote:A very valid point that you make however. The moderators here have not attacked someone that was acting for showing emotions. You can't take things personally because they're not meant that way. The problem I ran into when I was a moderator was that when I disciplined someone for violating a rule they thought I was personally out to get them and I did it just because I didn't like them. But, that's just simply not the way it is. When someone gets disciplined they should change the subject and move on. If you dwell on it then it causes problems.03Lightningrocks wrote:When there are 5000 people involved, it is highly unlikely that you will find everyone has the same opinions on anything. This creates debate...which can trigger emotions... in normal folks, lawyers typically don't have this issue... it is what makes them lawyers.
This would be a very boring forum if we had no diversity. If everyone here just parrots the opinion of the mods, it won't be long before this forum is back to 100 members again.
At the end of the day the rules are exactly what they say and the moderators job is to keep everyone within those boundaries to keep the forum civil.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
Even in all this you and I have grounds for agreement. If the sign we are talking about is a 30:06 sign that is improperly posted, I can understand why you would want to crusade to get the sign changed. I am one of those folks who doesn't carry a tape measure, so I have no way of judging letter spacing or other details. I also don't carry around a copy of the exact proper wording, so if a few words are wrong, I would never know it. How I handle this is simple, I see a 30:06 sign and I assume I am not welcomed, regardless of the technicalities involved.jimlongley wrote:And that would be me, because my feeling is that, just as one of our members recently experienced, even if they have the wrong signage or just plain don't know the law, you are likely to take the ride.03Lightningrocks wrote:Then there are those who feel the need to call up the folks with signs that don't count and risk having them correct the situation by giving them lessons on how to properly deny me my right to carry. If the sign is not a 30:06 sign, my assumption is always that they don't want to forbid licensed carry. They are wanting to forbid armed robbers from bringing a gun to the robbery. I see no need to ask them if I am correct as the law already says I am.marksiwel wrote: The Sign is incorrect in some way but no one wants to test it

Let them know that their sign is wrong, and that you will most likely beat the charge, and that you will also hold them responsible. And also let them know what the compliant sign is, and the fact that it is about 2' by 3' and really ugly.
Let them know that they are only denying law abiding citizens access because criminals won't care what signs are posted, and that you will be influencing others to boycott their business as much as is in their power.
If they repost, all well and good, they don't want your business and they have proved it, and there is no place that posts that can't be replaced. If they don't repost, and you get made, and you wind up taking the ride, the basis for your civil suit is the hard copy letter, registered, return receipt, notifying them that their sign does not comply with Texas law and stating what the law is.
On the other hand, if I see a gun busters sign, I assume the place is simply trying to appease the masses. Maybe they just posted the sign because it was in the package of signs they received when they opened shop and it looked cool. What ever the reason, I see no reason to complain about the way the coffee tastes if I am not drinking the coffee.
I think we are off topic...LOL.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
No...why on earth would I feel the need to announce I am a CHL? But I would walk right in there and pay for my alarm permit while armed. Well, unless they have a metal detector at the front door. In this case I would disarm to avoid the confrontation aspect of it all. No metal detector??? No Superman X-Ray vision??? I walk right past that sign.Beiruty wrote:Allen City's PD has a sign that they are advising they will arrest anyone carrying, no exception. Under current CHL laws, PDs can't post 30.06 for public spaces. Only secured space of Police Station are off-limits. Do you dare entering City of Allen's PD and declare you are CHLer and you have a question?

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
I think it just comes from folks having different opinions on what level of risk they are willing to take. I know guys who won't drive one mile an hour over the speed limit because it is illegal. I always volunteer to drive for these folks or I would end up shooting them from the passenger seat. Then there are guys who blast down the road from the rear end of one car to the rear end of the next. That would be me. Sometimes I am just feeling awnry so I drive 5 MPH below the speed limit just to make people crazy. OOPS... I got off topic. What was the topic again? Oh crud...now I am going to get thrown in jail for being off topic.
