I've watched the tape several times now to see exactly what happened. Its fragmented as shown. It appears to me though that he was NOT in the proper "mode" as he was dialing the phone when he was cold-cocked by the first bandit/idiot. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING and he would have seen the...

For concealed I would highly recommend the Glock 19 with a 15 capacity magazine. One in the pipe + 15 more in the mag and your all set. Easier to lug around and conceal that the 17.

Yes, that video is disturbing. A situation that can/should really make us think about what we would/should do. I believe that would be a tough choice to make. Obviously the guy got up and walked away....not un-injured though. I can see some liberal jury saying "see, he's alive, why would you ne...

Well, the planets aligned and today was the day ! ! Funny, I went to the mailbox, looked through the mail and no CHL. When I walked in the whole family said, "Did it come?" I said "UUGH, NO". Then, from the pile my son grabbed an envelope and said, "I think this may be it !&...

Another bad day at the mailbox today......   I can't take it much longer ! ! I ordered a "gun belt" yesterday....it supposed to be "heavy" leather which does a better job of supporting the load of the holster, etc. My current leather belt likes to twist and sag wh...

Deadly force is merely the means by which we nuetralize the threat. Shoot until the threat is nuetralized....nothing more, nothing less. Remember: 1. Center Mass 2. Center Mass 3. Evaluate - Nuetral? - Yes, STOP - No, Resume (location dependent on your training) Nowhere are we "Licensed to Kill...

Speaking of DPS: I've been working in business for 25 years. For the last 10-12 years I have been involved in "lean"....meaning doing more with less ! In these exercises, we do something called "process mapping". It's basically charting the "flow" of a process, from sta...

Update !

My online "status" changed this morning from "Processing Application" to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". In my previous post, I had stated I called Tuesday and DPS said it was to be sent the next morning. So, I guess the Web status change...

I also have the SmartCarry. Nice rig....but it takes a little getting used to. Down here its so HOT all the time its a good alternative. My Glock 19 fits in it well. I've been w/o my pistola for so long now I'll have to get used to it all over again !

Well, today is day #62. Checked status this morning and "Processing Application" once again. I've been patient....and I know others have waited longer....but I called DPS anyway to make sure I wasn't in some kind of "processing loop". The lady put me on hold and came back about 2...

Newbie....and waiting !

Well, figured I'd go ahead and chime-in here in the "waiting room" with the rest of you. I moved to Texas in July, been lurking here for a while as a guest, and have been a CHL in two other fine states and I have never seen the misery DPS puts us through ! ! In both of the other states, on...
