There's no one right answer. The majority of right-handed shooters wear the pistol between 3 and 5 o'clock (that is, on the right hip) with the grip facing the rear. This method allows the fastest presentation.

Some people choose cross-draw, small-of-back, and other variations; but iMHO they make it more difficult to draw and increase the likelihood of covering unintended targets.

Again IMHO, retention straps are not needed for concealed carry. They can slow down the draw. The holster should be tight enough to retain the pistol even upside-down.
