Chandler, Arizona (Phoenix area): A boy was suspended from school for drawing a sketch that might be a pistol.
Chandler district spokesman Terry Locke said the school is not allowed to discuss students’ discipline records. However, he said the sketch was “absolutely considered a threat,� and threatening words or pictures are punished.
Free expression, anyone?

To me, it looks like an arial view of a building with sky lights or ac units on top and a courtyard with some landscaping. :???:

They should suspend him for not being able to draw any better than that.

Kids in school don't have free expression.

Having said that, if anyone feels threatened by a picture of a gun, they need help.

Also realise, Chandler isn't your normal Phoenix, Arizona suburb. Chandler is a suburb where lots of non-Arizonians end up (i.e. your stereotypical Californian, for instance)

Most of the Phoenix area knows better than that.

I was thinking the same thing...

But I wonder if we all made some sketch and sent them in masse to the school in question, I'm wondering if that would illustrate how insane they really are...

Hey "drinks", this is just one of my more annoying ideas...Not very PC I know, but at least its something...Never mind if its a good idea or not...Or it ever happens...

What would you do, if anything, just curious...

Zero tolerance policies are ignorant in the extreme

That kids parents are going to get a big chunk of that school systems funds I can almost guarantee it

If a sketch of a pistol drawn by a child is "absolutely considered a threat" then any image of Hillary Clinton should be considered a WMD and treated accordingly.

I hope the parents sue and the ACLU gets involved, this is sheer insanity!!!

I think this is rediculus and idiotic reasoning. How can drawing
a picture of a gun pose a threat to anyone? Can you soot someone
with a piece of papper?

If he had drawn a picture of a
fire truck did that mean he was
going to burn the school down?
Doesn't make sense to me. :roll:

I believe gun safety and marksmanship should be taught in public schools so this sort of thing just doesn't even load, much less process for me.

correction-----

I believe it should be taught at HOME and then reinforced by school, much like many other life lessons.
