Just got my New Hampshire Non Resident Permit

#1

Post by Scott Murray »

I've been travelling to South Carolina about twice a year for some time, taking kids to college. It's been encouraging to see the recent reciprocity agreements with Georgia and South Carolina, adding to those we already had with Louisiana and Mississippi. But Alabama remains as a barrier to carrying to the east coast.

I found out that Alabama honors New Hampshire permits, even if they're to non residents. A New Hampshire permit costs $20 for four years. All I had to do was fill out the one page application I downloaded from their web site, and enclose a photo copy of my Texas CHL, and personal check for $20.

The permit just came. It took less than two weeks.

Thats great!

Whats funny is that I figured that out not two days ago, and printed off my application for NH, and filled it all out. Now as soon as I get my TX CHL I can make a copy of it, and send off for my NH.

What I love about NH, is that they have 14 days to issue the license, not 60. Oh well, hopefully I won't need a gun between now and whenever they get around to my app

I got mine a while back and I think the turn around time was less then a month. The sent me a letter once they got my application and I had to fill it out saying I would not be using the weapon for work and such. Listing my job raised a few flags and caused a delay, but once I sent the statement in that was that and license came with no problem. I originally got the NH one because I go in and out of Colorado. At the time Colorado did not accept Texas but did NH. For 20 bucks it did what it needed to for a few trips. Little hassle and the price is right.

Yeah, the NH "non-res" seems to be the best bang for your buck, and works well with getting those states Texas has not yet been able to twist the arms of...

Alabama sure was a big speedbump on the southern route to Florida for me...

And for those business trips to Huntsville I had to take fairly often...

Got mine pretty much the same way ya'll did, in record time...

When I got my in the summer of 2004 it got you several states over and above the ones you get with at Texas CHL

Today
