Re: Tired of Cornyn?

I don't like Paxton's values. Cornyn may not be perfect, but in a competition between Cornyn and Paxton I'll take Cornyn.
If Paxton wins the runoff I'll vote for the Democrat.
I wouldn't vote for Paxton is there were wild canines at the door and he was running unopposed for Dogcatcher!

Re: Weird signage

While the sign is probably not enforceable should you be taken to court, the intent is quite clear.
I don't go where I'm not wanted, unless I absolutely can't avoid going. This would be one of those cases. I would not carry in there.

Re: Tired of Cornyn?

It seems that Paxton has the potential to beat Cornyn in the primary, but is likely to lose the general election. Paxton is too far to the right for a lot of voters. For that reason, I'm playing the long game and voting for Cornyn.

Re: Suppressor provision in Big Beautiful Bill

The final version does not remove suppressors (or anything else) from the NFA. The Senate bill included that, but it was stripped out by the parliamentarian. The tax stamp fee is gone (it's now zero dollars) but the NFA registration requirements remain.

As noted in the original post, it doesn't take effect unless the US Congress also passes similar legislation. We won't be different from the nation.

Too Good to be True

SCAM ALERT, I think

I got a Facebook ad saying Palmetto State Armory was having a clearance sale. Checked out the link and was brought to a page at https://palmesttostates*dot*shop/ with incredibly low prices. Very much too good to be true (Example: box of 525 rounds Winchester .22LR for $5.19 ...

At the end of the video it shows a box with a label stating "Made in Serbia".

Man, an OSHA inspector would just faint dead away.

Re: You get a 5am alarm alert this morning

My android phone has a Do Not Disturb setting, which I have set to automatically turn on at 11PM and terminate at 7AM. Nothing gets thru except alarms that I have set and calls/texts from people in my contact list on the phone. I saw the alert on my screen when I woke up but it didn't make any noise ...

Re: Power grid

OTOH, my brother in east Texas who is connected to the national grid never lost power in the past few years when we had hard, long freezes. I was without power for days at a time! Also, there are a LOT of AI companies putting large server farms in the state, and they'll need a LOT of power.

Re: Texas Vehicle Inspection

I see this as a mixed bag... Less government is good, but I think overall road safety will suffer a bit.

It's apparently not a problem in 38 other states.

The main problem I see with this is folks who have non-functioning tail lights or brake lights. They typically don't know their lights ...

I have a feeling that's not the sort of ...

Re: Waiting Your Turn In Robbery Situations

Talker #1 says *if* the guy who's not near the counter has a 2-second draw he should pull his firearm and shoot the guy in red because the other guy will run and not return fire. That'a a BIG bet. Robber #2 has a gun in his hand. What's to stop him from simply pointing at the customer who's shooting ...

Re: War with Russia

I've been avoiding commenting on this topice so far, but…

I don't believe Putin's strategy in Ukraine was to "…draw the U.S. and allies into spending tons of money and sending military resources to Ukraine." I think he assumed that the U.S. and NATO would not get so directly involved and that ...
