Don't have time to look it up, and post the relevant law, but basically the law clearly states that a 30.06 needs to be post.

I think you are refering to an obsolete law. The 51% sign in itself has no legal weight for us CHL holders.

Strongly suggest you contact TABC and inform them that a jewelry store apparently is making 51% of its sales reveneue in liquor for on-premesis consumption.

It's my understanding that TABC inspectors are a humorless sort when it comes to misuse of this signage . . .

the TABC only cares if they sell alcohol. Anyone can hang a 51%er as long as they don't sell alcohol. The sign carries no legal weight.
BTW i always thought Steve had a pretty good sense of humor
