Texas doesn't but the internet penal code and courts do. ;-)

I still have a hard time remembering this. The state I grew up in has degrees of murder.
The cop and lawyer TV shows from California and New York have first degree murder.
Even Hawaii does- Book em Danno. Murder One!

The suspect says that he didn't do it. Doesn't know even where the place is, he has never been there.

I was impressed by his response. Doesn't know even where the place is. That would also be my response. I have been to Bellaire, but I have no idea where this restaurant is.

His sister recognized him from the grainy video that barely shows his face. Could she be mistaken? I hope they have something else. Like they recovered the gun from him and it is the one used in the crime.

This is a high profile case. The police want to catch the murderer. The news articles only point to the sister fingering him from the video.

He had only been out of jail for three days. A rush to judgement?

On the other side, the witnesses to the murder may have identified him. But in many cases like this, witnesses can be mistaken.

However, in this case probably not. The man has words tattooed above and below his eyes.

Note to self: If I decide to lead a life of crime and murder, tattoo stuff on my face, so people can clearly identify - it is me.

Maybe that's why she turned him in? It wouldn't surprise me too much.

No evidence reported other than the sister identifying him on the video.

He stands by his innocence.

I heard in a news report that the police had dna evidence from the scene. Also unless he got rid of the gun they should have ballistics evidence. All that said I think I have seen news reports to be wrong before...
