I remember when Printer's Alley was an alley of 'brown bag' knife and gun clubs. If a bar is defined in my home state as it is in Texas (Chili's ain't no bar), I agree with the Gov.

Gasoline, gunpowder and alcohol don't mix very well, y'all. :fire
I for example very seldom ever go to a 51% place and drink. I have in recent years gone to meet people on business, and tended political conventions at a tavern ( Taverns are where American liberty was born) and not had a drop to drink. If a CHL holder can't be trusted to go into a bar without becoming intoxicated, he should either not have the CHL or he should understand that he doesn't belong in such a place. I find the idea that we can't be trusted to go into a bar or anyplace while armed a little insulting.

What is safest?
A loaded gun in a holster on our person.
A gun locked in a car at a icehouse parking lot?
An unloaded unlocked up gun anywhere.

I believe the gun on my person is the least likely to be taken possession of by a BG. The most dangerous is an unlocked unloaded gun.

Right on, Bro! :iagree: with everything you said; especially, the part about potentially intoxicated CHL's.

I very much disagree on this. I believe I am quite capable of going to a "bar" and not drinking, just as I am capable of going to a "restaurant" with a TABC license and not drinking. The percentage of revenue from alcohol sales is completely irrelevant when it comes to my physical safety. And like Liberty wrote, if someone can't be trusted to go into a bar and not get drunk, they probably wouldn't have their CHL anyway? I am quite often the designated driver for social outings to bars and resent the fact that I'm trusted enough to drive, but can't have a gun for the (usually nighttime) trip between the bar and my vehicle.

:iagree: I DD semi-regularly as well and think it's dumb that I have to not carry until I'm back at the car. If I'm at the point where a drunk guy could take my gun from me, then that's exactly after the point where I would have needed it.

The BBC News has an article on-line today (13 July) on this topic, with a video from a woman whose husband was shot in a bar.

By James Coomarasamy
BBC News, Nashville, Tennessee

Following a recent series of high-profile shooting incidents in the United States, the southern state of Tennessee is changing its gun laws this week.

It is relaxing them.
