I don't like AC on short trips. Grew up in Central TX w/o it. I also buy my coffee already ground and know when emergency vehicles with sirens on are approaching. People must think I'm DWI, pulling over on the shoulder.

I hope that resolution is found for both families - at the end of the day did pulling the gun make sense? Was Robbie's life unjustly taken?? I will have no choice but to wait and see how the case develops bc this is one I will follow closely....

Specifically, it was one of the commenters on the article who was playing the race card, not either of the people involved in the shooting.

Moral of this story is the following.

1. Keep your doors locked.
2. Keep your Windows up.
3. Do not stop and engage the enraged person.

If he breaks your windows or doors to get to you. Then you have the right and evidence for a self defense shooting. I had a knife brandished at me when I did not pull forward enough for somones taste. If you have a CHL you need to have a thick enough skin to be aware of the situation.....and just drive on.

Wait a minute. Now the shooting occured in front of the deceased man's house as he was unloading groceries? That's a far cry from the original article, which leads you to believe the incident occured on a public street during a traffic altercation. Just re-read the original and it mentions street names I don't recognize and something about a neighborhood, but nothing about unloading groceries at his own house. Yeah, this incident is COMPLETELY different from what I envisioned based on the first article, which is why conclusions simply CANNOT be drawn from an initial news report, which at best are no more than 50% accurate.

The shooter followed the other guy home, an altercation ensued, and the guy was shot in street in front of his own home? Do I have this newest sequence of events correct based on the information we have now?

So Nguyen is in jail right now. From the 911 recoding he sounded so calm . What does that mean? Did he tell a lie or made up a story? Or just stone cold ?
How old is this guy? Is he a recent Viet immigrant to America? Did the dead guy tried to provoke/threaten him before this shooting--the reason Nguyen followed him to his driveway to have a good talk?

I have no idea whether he is an immigrant or born in the U.S. In fact, about all I am sure of is that one guy is dead (the cops nearly always get that right ) and another is in jail.

What does this mean? By itself, nothing. Not everyone is hysterical or highly emotional during a crisis or while making a 911 call. It is preferrable to remain calm during these situations so that you can give clear and easy to understand information to the 911 call center.

Thats a fine looking neigborhood. Plushy and high end. I wonder what gun the shooter must have used . From the report , it was a neck shot. So if he was in the car, pretty close range to hit the neck . That would tell us the dead guy must have gotten too close to the car window. Again, we dont know the whole story.

In my opinion there has got to be more training for a CHL licensee. In my opinion for those of us who really enjoy this and take our responsibility seriously and have studied the law and gone through every scenario in our head there is not a problem with the current amount of training. But this is the second moron with a CHL in the Houston area this year to do something totally ridiculous. You cant aggravate the scene, you cant aggravate the person, thats why its called self defense, if you aggravate the situtation its called self offense and thats not legal. If you could have left but then continue the altercation even with a simple question its aggravating the situation. This just totally ticks me off because this idiot puts a bad mark on those of us who know what we are doing, when and why we can carry, and when to use it. I just wish these idiots that dont want to spend time studying their responsibilty would just not get a license, they are legally allowed to carry one in their car anyway.
