Call them and just wait, both times I called I was on hold for at least 25 minutes. Just put the phone on speaker and do what you got to do till they answer.

This is a perfect example to have a back-up to your CHL. Sure hope that Burnam bill does not see the light of day.

Good friend of mine took his CHL course with my wife in January. He received his CHL in 27 days, BUT, the picture was not his and I quote was "25 years younger and a lot better lookin' ". It took until this week for DPS to get it straightened out and a new passport picture. Don also said the whoever got his picture was sure in for a shock.

Madscuba, I have to ask a question, when you took your renewal class, did you sign the back of your photos or print your name on them or just left the back blank??
The reason I ask is that as an instructor, I have all my students write their name on the back of both photos.
And if it was me, I'd call around 8:30 and hope they are there to answer your questions.

I'm thinking technically the OP still has a valid CHL. Even with the wrong photo, it is still a CHL issued to him (with his DL number). I would probably continue to carry with both the old and new CHLs as well as my DL. Of course, I don't recommend this as it could result in some 'splaining if you got stopped.

I did not have to submit any new pictures since this was a renewal. They were supposed to use my picture on file, which I had on my old CHL.

I was too busy to call early this morning, but I am going to call their office first tomorrow morning!

Update: I got a call from the CHL office today, and they mailing me a new CHL with the correct picture!!!!

Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 521.059(b), Transportation Code, is
amended to read as follows:
(b) The department shall authenticate the facial image and
thumbprints or fingerprints provided by an applicant for a personal
identification certificate, driver's license, or commercial
driver's license or permit using image comparison technology to
ensure that the applicant:
(1) is issued only one original license, permit, or
certificate;
(2) does not fraudulently obtain a duplicate license,
permit, or certificate; [and]
(3) does not commit other fraud in connection with the
application for a license, permit, or certificate; and
(4) is not a fugitive from justice, as defined by
Section 38.01, Penal Code.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
