Magic Jack will not work with satellite internet, does fine with DSL or cable
Do you have to plug your fax modem into the magic jack?
your fax/scanner/printer "all-in-one thingy or fax machine (or possibly a fax modem maybe if you are faxing straight from a doc/application ... I never tried that through the magic jack).
What I originally did was get a 2 phone to 1 line adapter, plugged phone into the back of the printer/fax machine, set Fax to not answer till 4th ring, and I had an answering machine on the other, (which I since unplugged since magic jack e-maiils voice messages now)
But yes, you plug the phone into the printer/fax machine, and the machine/printer into the magic jack, no need for the 2-jack splitter.
I had ok results with longer phone wire, but had to go to 6' wires when it messed up later
I have an HP all-in-one which faxes (not all models fax, some just copy/print/scan) and a magic jack.
The printer/fax machine needs to be "something I forgot) compatible (most modern ones are) I just got the cheapest HP one that faxes which WalMart had (I first bought another brand, but it didn't print) There is a setting in the printer/fax setup that you can turn off, and if you do, it won't work any more (that whatchacall it compatibility thing)
