68charger - glad that you enjoyed the trip. If you do it again, my wife and I like to visit Wimberley Glass Works. They do amazing blown glass pieces. The Blair House Inn is our favorite place to stay. Great breakfast & dessert each night. Also a wonderful dinner (reservation only) on Saturday. Trattoria Lisina is another great place to eat.

When we visited Wimberley, I just googled something like "wimberley bed and breakfast" or something like that. What I came across was a property management company that rents out private homes and cabins to visitors. They found us a room in a mansion on a hilltop a mile or so south of town with a phenomenal view of the valley below and nearly total quiet. We stayed there for two nights, and I think the price was around $160/night or so.
